Scottish Rockets
Welcome to the Big Range in the Big Country!
Aspirespace, SARA, and UKRA,are pleased to announce the first, hopefully annual, flying event in the remote Highlands of Scotland for rocket flights to seriously large altitudes in May 2012. Discussions with the Civil Aviation Authority and Ministry Of Defence are proceeding positively, they’ve provisionally allowed us flights up to 25.3 Kilometres/83,000 feet AMSL (that’s not a typo!)
We’ve booked the 1st week in May (Mon 30th April to Sun 6th May), as this gives the cheapest accomodation rate as it’s before the hunting season. Note that May is also before the accursed midges (no-see-um bugs) appear, so we’ll be midge-free!
A 50% Deposit has to be paid on both of the accomodation Lodges to secure the Bookings by Christmas 2011.
Those definitely intending to come to and participate in the Launch Campaign as flyers or as crucially active members of rocket teams are asked please to make an initial Deposit payment of £75 (Pounds Sterling) as soon as possible now, and certainly please by Monday 19th December 2011. Your co-operation in this regard is essential to secure the launch campaign primary accommodation, and will be much appreciated. Thank you.
Please note that Deposit payments are non-refundable.
Priority during the launch windows will be given to large, high altitude, and/or experimental rocket vehicles, with smaller/conventional stuff being fired if and when time allows. Priority will also be given to teams with large, high altitude, and/or experimental rockets for accommodation at the Lodges . We hope to meet teams from all over Europe and the USA.
Now it is Scotland: the weather could do anything; it could rain or even snow! Though the weather is so changeable we’re sure to get some flyable days. I’m afraid we can’t give refunds if the weather prevents flying, because we can’t afford to.
The site owners have asked us to limit the number of event attendees to 23, so it’s on a first-come-first served basis: pay your deposit promptly to secure a place. They’ve also asked us to restrict the number of 4-by-4 vehicles, so we’ll have to arrange a ‘car sharing’ scheme at the site.
